Dealing with a severe DIY attitude. Producing, even when I'm not. Passionate about everything concerning writing electronic music.

Just a regular guy, obsessed with noise. Love the exchange between producing and dj'ing. Not following the boring copycat modern techno scene. I do what I want.

Producing, even when I'm not..

Producing, even when I'm not..

Some words..

Social apps.. more of a problem rather than a solution..

For me at least…..

Early 2000's when my electronic music producer passion started, there were little to none online platforms to share or promote music.   At that time I actually wasn't looking for it either.  My main goal was: write music, learn the craft, improve mixing skills, learn the gear, spend way too much money on it all to discover later on, it exactly wasn't necessary..  But it was all part of the learning process.  I still learn every single day.  Never happy with my sound but that's a good thing.  It keeps me busy improving my skills.

Somewhere 2018 a friend told me to get some music online. Until that moment I hadn't released anything online.  So from there  it all went downwards.. (more later)..

Don't get me wrong: I made very interesting contacts which I  probably hadn't found without a social platform.  However the best contacts I made were through classic mail, introducing myself and explaining the work I was doing.

Bakery..  When I like a specific bread from a specific Bakery Store, I grab my bike and get that delicious bread.   When I enter the shop there's no distraction from anyone or anything that might keep me away from buying the bread that I like.  I enter the shop when they're open and buy what I need.  Done.

With social media used from a producers perspective trying to sell their 'bread', it's become utterly annoying.  Customers are getting bombed with useless spam.

I can go on on this topic but it's of no use.  I'll just explain why I personally think a normal oldskool website is more customer friendly (in my modest opinion)…

- You visit when it fits YOUR schedule or mood.

- You only look for the things YOU want at that given time.

- You don't get bombed with commercials.

- You don't get interrupted by audio / visuals / comments and whatnot that you actually don't want or need to hear or see.

- You just visit the website at your own tempo and you can always come back on a later moment where a social feed/post/story just slides away in a doomed emptiness and when you do find a post again that you might perhaps have saved, you'll be probably clicking other saved posts and forget what you were looking for in the first place. The typical distraction/misleading trick from socials.

Downwards...  With this I meant: The time i’ve spent on music vs the time I've 'wasted' on socials went from 100% music to 0% and you guessed it: 100% of my precious time went to socials...  Was this all of no use?  Nope, it worked,.... at least for a while ot did..  The clever algorithms have pushed my work into the smallest and darkest corners of the internet by now. Why is that? I don’t know, and honestly, maybe I just better never know.

The algorithms made me put more effort into it and I was already maxed out on my work/life/hobby balance..

With this being said:  for now I will link my bandcamp shop into my personal site and my new work I will upload here too from now on.  Bandcamp is still a cool place to hang around.  Of course they’re also using algorithms to boost their sales but imo it’s working solid. Especially for creators who don’t want to work with labels.

I first mentioned ( when uploading this page ), to keep my Instagram page active but thinking this through, it just doesn’t make sense to keep investing in this platform. It’s just a timewasting platform. I’ll just focus on what matters most.

Combining a musical hobby with family / work is hard as it is.  The extra information/chatbox/commercials/distractions were just too time consuming for me to keep doing this.

Going back to the basics of it all was needed to keep doing my thing, at my pace fitting in my personal schedule.

Ahh.. One more thing. The DJ aspect! I always dreamt of a making bigger steps as a DJ ( 1995-….) by making my own music. Even with some great releases on Truncate ( Truncate ) and Beard Man ( Mark Broom), it still isn’t too obvious to get heard in this scene.

Due to family/work it’s also very hard to combine the two, so I kinda gave up that part of the musical dream. But of course, never say never.

Benefit of the doubt. Spinning tracks is like riding bikes. Nowadays all the hyped media footage is making it seem like mixing two tracks, is something outerworldly and it’s only meant for the happy few who reach the ‘top’.. Well, I’m not part of this social-booth-footage-action-cam circus. Book me, I mix tracks.. That’s what it’s about, not? The world’s a circus enough already, we don’t need anymore clowns, right?

Anyway, the content ranging from music, tutorials, mixtapes, blogs will always be available for those who want to look it up at any given time, not getting lost in social feeds. Hope you’ll enjoy.

Thanks for hopping by at my website and I hope I can add future content, that keeps this space interesting with the above mentioned content and hopefully some gig-dates again. Now I need to get back to work.
